Help my period was 2 weeks late then it started and hasn't stopped!

My period was 2 weeks late i did several pregnancy tests all of which were negative. Then my period started, it usually on lasts 3 days and is always regular never early or late but i have now been bleeding for the last 3 weeks. It is not heavy it is very light and no clotting, i went to the doctor but all they wanted to talk about was birth control and would not listen to what i had to say, can anyone help i am starting to get worried! Confused

Hello, what did you tell your Doctor's? How old are you? And what exactly did they say the reason for the long period?

I explained to my doctor that my period was late and how late it was and that i had been having unprotected sex and that i had taken the tests and that they were negative. Also that i had no pain with the period and that it was very very light with no clotting. I am 28 years old. The doctor told me it was natures way of dealing with a blip and not to worry about it that it was either early stages of a miscarriage or that i hadn't ovulated and the lining of the womb was very thick.
