My father has been in and out of hospitals and is currently in a nursing home getting rehab. He has had cdif, which he took flagyl for 10 days. 3 weeks later he has another case of severe bowel movements, and with a culture, the results came back positive for CDIF. After 2 days he is no longer have the diarrhea. Does he still have CDIF then? How is it that he can be OK for a period of time, and then get it again, and if he doesn't have symptoms, does he need to be on antibiotics?
