Can women be tested for herpes after conception? My girlfriend is pregnant, she experienced some outbreaks in genital area and we are worried that there are herpes outbreaks. I don’t know what to think??? She is in panic, but she is afraid to see a doctor…I don’t know why.

Sorry, to hear that, but she puts baby in great risk if she has been infected. I believe women can be tested for herpes after conception even though I don’t know anyone with that experience. Herpes can lay dormant for anything from days to years. The risk to the baby is lower in women who experience a recurrent outbreak at this time than in those who experience a primary outbreak. She needs to talk to her doctor this is very serious situation.
