I am so afraid because I have noticed something strange. I saw I have some growth on the urethra. For the first time I have noticed it maybe few days ago. Now it seems to be even worse, because I feel pain during urinating. I am so afraid it is urethral cancer, so can you tell me more about it.

Cancer of the urethra is a rare type of cancer. This is a disease in which cancer or malignant cells are found in the urethra. The urethra is the tube that empties urine from the bladder. Bladder is the hollow organ in the lower abdomen that stores urine. In women, urethra is about one and a half inches long and opens to the outside of the body above the vagina. In men, the urethra is about eight inches long and goes through the prostate gland and then through the penis to the out. Cancer of the urethra affects women more often then men, and there may be no symptoms of early cancer of the urethra. A doctor should be seen if there is a lump or growth on the urethra, or pain, bleeding, or some other difficulty during urination. As you see, my opinion is you should check this growth on the urethra with some doctor. He will examine you, and if there are lumps in the urethra, he will notice that. It does not have to be cancer if you saw some growth, but checking that with your doctor is recommended.
