Scientists discovered that there’s a strong connection between untreated diabetes in pregnant woman and child obesity and overweight problem later, especially between age of 5 and 7.

The results of tests shows us that untreated high sugar level in pregnant woman doubles the risk that the child she is carrying could be obese and that it can lead to adult obese as well.

Study has shown that the children whose mothers were treated for diabetes in time of pregnancy had statistically same risk of becoming obese as the children whose mothers had normal sugar level in blood during pregnancy.

Researches in this area strongly suggest that pregnant woman should talk to the doctor about diabetes screening and then start a treatment if so is necessary to avoid this problem
