My uncle had a hip replacement less than two months ago. He was in a rehabilitation facility for a couple of weeks and went home. Suddenly, one night he had a high fever and was rushed to the hospital where they found he had a blood clot and an open sore that was infected on his foot. They treated him for over a week with shots of blood thinners and antibiotics. His problem is this: His leg is in a lot of pain and terribly swollen. Everything I have read has said the swelling and pain are a sign of a blood clot - but these things did not happen until after the blood clot was discovered and he'd been on the blood thinners. Any ideas?? He really is depressed and wants to go home ASAP.

Thanks!

Lori
