Hoping it's only ingrown hairs...

I've read all the topics about ingrown hairs, and what i have sounds like that.. but i want to check..
I started off with about two itchy ingrown-hair looking sores on the outer lips of my vagina, and they started getting p***y and insanely itchy. That was yesterday, and today I have about 6 of them starting to come up? One of them had a very thin layer of skin which i popped and puss came out.
I haven't been having sex so I'm pretty sure it's not an STD.
Can someone please help me.. I'm considering going to the doctor's, but thought I would try here first.
