Hi. Many factors can cause irregular periods, such as significant weight gain/loss, poor nutrition, smoking, drugs, caffeine, alcohol, over-exercise, eating disorder and increased stress. Some other causes include uterine abnormalities, hormonal imbalance, meds, chemotherapy, breastfeeding, etc. I have Hormonal problems too. My periods are really bloody. I bleed heavily because of hormonal imbalance (low progesterone). What can you do? There are many things you can do to, such as decreasing the stress, improving nutrition, adding nutritional supplements, etc. My doctor told me to make healthy dietary modifications and to decrease the intake of refined carbohydrates. I take multivitamin and calcium supplements.
