How common is red dye allergy?

I would like an answer to my question how common is red dye allergy. My husband is 45 years old and it seems that he has stomach problems every time he eats something that contains red dye, and I am afraid there is a lot of food that satisfy that criteria.

You are right about that. There are so many conditions and illnesses out there for which we do not have any clues, and this allergy is one of those. My son is allergic to red dye I have to admit that it sounds stupid, but that is how it is. And this does not apply only to food; it includes materials, medications, inks, all sorts of things and he is only 20 years old.
