I have had heart problems ever since I entered menopause. I started feeling chest pain while doing anything physical. This pain was usually gone after a while. But when the problems started occurring more often, I was prescribed with beta blockers. Can you tell me how do beta blockers work?

Basic mechanism of adrenergic beta blockers is a competitive blockage of beta 1 and beta 2 receptors. These blockers can affect all organs and tissues that have beta receptors. Most important are heart, lungs, blood vessels .there are several forms of these blockers. Some can react only to beta 1 receptors in the heart, while the other can affect both beta 1 and beta 2 (in heart and lungs).
