My father is recovering from a stroke. He had this trauma last month and we are all still coping with the consequences. He is 76 years old and he was already walking with difficulties before and now it is even worse. He was prescribed with Dantrolene for his condition and I would like to know how will this drug help him, how does it work?

Dantrolene is used to deal with muscle spasms which occur because of severe muscle conditions. It is commonly combined with physical therapy even though I am not sure if your father, considering the age, can attend those therapies. Dantrolene is a muscle relaxant and it reacts in the nervous system in order to prevent spasms and pain they produce. Also, people over 36 years of age must be aware that this drug might hurt their liver.
