My mother is suffering from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. On her last doctors check she was advised to take Riluzole. Her doctor explained to me that this medicine can work against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. How does Riluzole work against ALS? Should she really take this medicine? Will she be better with it then without it?
My mother had the same disease, and I have the same dilemma. I also did some research before I gave Riluzole to my mother. My source showed this: Riluzole, doctor gives to their patients in order to slow down progress of the disease. This medicine prevents further dying of motor cells. Bad thing is that it can reverse the process of disease, so it can not fix the damage that is already done.
