I heard today that my aunt need to go to kidney transplantation and now my parents and I are really worried. We also heard that she will need to have some kind of treatment with immunosuppressives. But we don’t know what immunosuppressives are. Can somebody explain to me how does body react on immunosuppressives?

I know something about that because my girlfriend is a nurse and she explained me that once. The Immunosuppressives suppress all of the immune system and then they leave the patient vulnerable to a variety of opportunistic infections that would normally be prevented by the immune system. Immunosuppressives suppress the activity of the cells that form antibodies.
