Hi, my husband is 43 years old and he is Kenya at the moment. It seems that he somehow got infected with diphtheria and now he has to stay there for a treatment. I am not sure why he was held but he said that everything is fine and that the therapy is already making him feel better. I am going there next week but I would still like to know how diphtheria is treated.

Diphtheria is a dangerous disease, but it is almost eradicated in developed countries. It might be found in tropical countries, and I assume Kenya is one of those. As for the treatment, I am certain he already received diphtheria antitoxin. Treatment includes a lot of rest, heart control etc. But it looks like it was discovered in time, so he should be all right.
