Last night I watched some program about heart diseases that are usually inherited. I remember that they are talking about hypertrophic cardiomyopathy because one of our nearest neighbors has it. It’s a very hard illness. I’ve never asked him how is hypertrophic cardiomyopathy treated Can somebody give me that information, please? Thanks!

Well, treatment options for patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy depend upon the heart condition and severity of symptoms. Treatment may include medication, surgery or the implant of a pacemaker or automatic defibrillator. First treatments are intended to decrease the stress on the heart and relieve symptoms. The surgery is used when medication no longer relieves symptoms.
