Hi, I have a question I need an answer to quickly. I have just started to go to the gym. I have never worked out before, so this is all new to me. A trainer at the gym told me I should workout every second day. However, I feel that I can do much more than this. So what I would like to ask is this. How many training days per week should I have? Do I need to follow the instructor's program or should I follow my instincts?

Hi, when it comes to working out you should definitely listen to the trainer. He is a professional who knows how much workout you need and how much you can handle. It may seem to you that this kind of workout is not sufficient to you, but you are wrong. When you are a beginner, working out every second day is enough. This way you give your muscles chance to recuperate before you traumatize them again. When you workout your muscles get hurt and need time to rest. During the rest, they are actually getting bigger. So working out more often will not help you achieve better results, you will just increase your chance for an injury. When you get more in shape and become capable to follow a more demanding routine, your trainer will know. That is when he will talk to you about a more intense workout routine.
