How much is important child-dentist relationship?

Hello, my son is 5 years old and it seems that he is scared for his dentist. He did not act like this before and we wonder what could be the reason for it. He started losing his baby teeth and we just wanted a dentist to check his condition but it seems impossible now. How much is child-dentist relationship important? How can we improve it?

Well, most likely he had a trauma involving a doctor and if a dentist and a doctor had the same white uniform, that just might be the trigger. This means that you will have a hard time persuading him to allow the dentist to examine him. I know that some dentist tried relaxing the child by wearing a different color uniform. But that does not work all the time.
