How to deal with depression following ALS

I think that my mother has depression. At first I thought that she is just sad because of her illness. By the way, she is diagnosed with amiotrophical lateral sclerosis. I don't know anything about this disease, so I want to ask you. Is it possible that depression is following ALS? How to deal with the person suffering from it?

Depression is common condition that usually follows ALS. Maybe you don't know but amiotrophical lateral sclerosis is very difficult disease which is ultimately fatal. When people find out what are they suffering from they get depressed. Try to understand your mother and to get her some help. She need all the help she can get.
