How to do right immobilization of the fracture?

Yesterday I hurt my shoulder while I was playing basketball in my school. I thought that it’s fracture but, fortunately, it’s not. My doctor told me that I was lucky. I would like to know how to do right immobilization of the fracture. I want to know that if it happens to me.

The best way to treat the injury until you can reach emergency facility is to immobilize the arm and shoulder by holding the arm close to the body with the other arm or in a sling. You should put ice on the injured area for 20 minutes at a time. But take care not to freeze the skin.
