How to support someone with eating disorder?

Hello! I have recently found out that my niece has eating disorder. She was at the hospital for some time since she had problem with her kidneys. Her mother told me she is under therapy and that her condition improved. I plan to visit them next week. How to support someone with eating disorder?

Hello! First of all you should know that recovery process of your niece will take some time and it will not be easy. Don’t expect to see her completely recovered since her mother told you her condition improved. She will feel many good days and bad days and she should know that she had the support of her family. Be open to her but don’t expect she should tell you everything about her problems. If she is under group or family therapy you can ask her if you can participate as well. Show her that your care and that you are besides her.
