Hi! My father has hypercholesterolemia (or simply -elevated blood levels of cholesterol). I read something more about this condition and I found that people with hypercholesterolemia have a much higher tendency to develop the ischemic heart disease. Please, can somebody give me information How to treat ishemic heart disease? Thanks!

I know something about ischemic heart disease because my father has it. Usually doctors first prescribed drug therapy with Nitrates. They dilate the diseased coronary arteries, and they are very effective in relieving the pain in a few minutes. Surgical therapy is indicated when medical treatment has failed to relieve symptoms.
