I have arthritis in my hip - I had surgery on the other hip so it is much much but the left one hurts. I was taking oxycontin but after a couple of years, every few days I would get extremely nauseas. So I decided to get off it. I went immediatly from 180 miligrams a day to 80 milligrams a day. But I found I was still getting nauseas. I could tell if it was from withdrawal or the ongoing effects of the oxycontin. So now I have taken no oxycontin for over 12 hours. Af first last night I felt like I had ants in my feet but that went away. My stomach has calmed down a lot.

But I feel dizzy and weak.

I cannot afford a rehab centre.

Any suggestions of medicaltion (natural or traditional) I can take to ease the symptoms of getting off oxycontin.

hi,

I've been a user for 4 yrs, it's extremely hard to come off oxys, you need treatment, i did the cold turkey thing numourous times and failed, no one knows about my addiction, i struggle every day and feel trapped, im set for treatment in june finally!

the best thing i can tell you to do is to take asprin while you withdrawl and gravol for the nausea and to help you sleep, this can be bought at the drug store for about 5bucks, also, if you can, ask your doctor for seroquil it's a better sleep aid and atidepressant, you will get depressed during your withdrawl so this is a great drug to have. It will take about 2 weeks to feel semi normal and 30 days for it to get out of your system, if you got the will to stop for good i hope you follow my advice. Do this in your home and make sure you can clear your shedule for the next 3-4 week with no stress issues, this is imparative! you cannot work or deal with any people other than family during this time! I wish you all the best of luck! one day at a time. Be strong.
D.

I agree with the other two. Seroquil will help you sleep and also help with the depession. When I came off I was extremely depressed, I didnt want to live. Also the clonidine will help ease it a little and will keep your blood pressure down. While at a detox place they gave me clonidine everytime my blood pressure was high. Phenobarbitol is also a drug they give at rehabs. But of course you need a doctor for help.

I just realized I had spelled my username wrong when I posted on here last year. Thannks for all the great posts. I had to work as a lawyer through all the time I was withdrawing. Finally I called my doctor and said I need something to take because the pain in my stomach is so bad. He gave me a prescription for clonidine which worked great.

But you would think that was enough to go through but in July 07 I had a horrible eye infection that went on for weeks, the on July 15/07 I had a car accident, 5 weeks before my hip surgery. After the car accident I could not stop crying. Then at the end of Aug i h ad my hip surgery but it did not go as well as the surgery on the other hip did - I was off work 7 weeks. I went back to work the middle of October/07 - still crying continually. I just fell apart after the car accident but my doctor doesn't believe the accident cold do that. Then about Nov. 20/07 I fell on my face on concrete. It did something to my balance - I kept falling - down a few stairs a couple of times. It feels like someone is pushing me over. I wasn't dizzy - just felt like | was pushed. The CT scan was normal but a couple of weeks later I started slurring my speech at work and fallling asleet sitting up. The partner at the firm ordered me to go on sick leave. They had no short term disability but they did pay me but it was a loan I had to pay back. In April/08 long term disability kicked in. I have had chronic pain for 30 years and everything aggravated it so the pain was bad - but I never went back on oxycontin or percocet. Then on Dec. 23 I started hallucinating - I ended up in the hospital with e.coli blood poisoning. Along with the balance problem and the increased pain, I get double vision when I've read for quite a while. I am very depressed, I hurt, my balance is off and I have double vision and my MRI was abnormal but the doctors weren't concerned. No doctors have been able to diagnose me. I have had side effects to every anti-depressant I'v taken but I will ask my doctor about seroquil which I haven't tried.

To top things off, one of my cats died last week and I was heartbroken.

So it has been a rought time.

Thanks for the suggestions. Your comments were right on. It was too bad I had to work while going through withdrawal but I live alone and I amm paid on straight commision with no sick pay so I had to work.
