Life is rapidly changing these days for our family. My little brother, he is seven, I am 17 years old, has been diagnosed with Huntington's disease. I do not know much about Huntington's disease in youngsters, only that it usually attacks older people, and that the outcome is fatal. Do I even have to mention how devastating this situation is for our parents?

Huntington's disease in youngsters is not a common thing, but it does happen, and I am sorry that your little brother has it. As for the disease itself, it is hereditary and he got it from one of your parents (mutation on chromosome 4). Illness progresses slowly and attacks almost every motor function, also including cognitive abilities, which is really hard for family to witness.
