Hello. I have a father who had an accident few years ago, and due to the pain he was forced to go on the painkillers. That was a bad thing because he has a history with alcohol abuse, and now when he is taking Hydrocodone I am worried about him. Does Hydrocodone and alcohol interact?

The answer is yes. Hydrocodone is a narcotic analgesic that acts in the central nervous system to relieve pain. It itself can make a physical dependency. It increases the effects of alcohol, and it is dangerous to mix them. You should advise him not to do that if he likes being alive. And, maybe it is a good idea to go to some support group about this problem.
