I have 16 years old daughter. I think and afraid she has got the same problem as I did. I used to have hymen that was so hard to imperforate. I had to visit my gynecologist, because it wasn’t possible to do it normally. She didn’t get her periods yet, but lately she’s complaining of some cramps, so I am afraid those are menstrual cramps. What if she has worst type of hymen problem then I did and her menstrual blood can’t get out?

This hymen problem as you described is called imperforate hymen. That is case when hymen opening practically doesn’t exist. In this case, young women will often experience severe menstrual cramps without bleeding. It comes because the blood is forced to flow backwards through the fallopian tubes into the abdomen. The only way to see if hymen is the problem is to see a gynecologist. If there is present of some structural abnormalities of hymen, gynecologist should be able to remedy the situation. Off course that hymen is traditionally perforated during sexual intercourse, but since it’s possible to have such a Hymen problems gynecologist usually solves it. I recommend you to take daughter and visit a doctor, because it’s not just a simple hymen problem. If hymen totally blocks passage of the blood it can bring many other problems. And off course it’s possible she has normally hymen and those are cramps before she got her period.
