Hello! I have just been diagnosed with hyperthyroid disease. I heard that once you start taking the drugs , you can never go back and that you will need to take them for the rest of your life. I always forget to take my medications. I don’t know how on Earth will I remember to take them every day. So, I was wondering…what would happen of I didn’t take the drugs at all?

You would get into a very dangerous situation then. Not treating hyperthyroid could lead to all sorts of further disorders regarding your heart. You could develop high blood pressure, irregular heartbeats, strong and fast heartbeats, possible severe emotional disorders, and even heart failure. As you can see, not treating your hyperthyroid could literally kill you. You should better reconcile yourself to the new situation and make the treatment your new life style.
