I just wanted to comment to the person that had the hyparathyroidectomy. I had the same surgery last December, 2006 and all four glands were removed. The doctor took part of the best gland and transplanted it into my forearm. I have not had to take any medication at all since that time. He test my calcium level every four months. I think it depends on why you had the surgery. Ask lots of questions to your physician
