For all my life I’ve been having problems with obesity and overweight in generally. I tried to use some diets and I went to the gym for a long time but nothing could help me.
I get easily tired even after a minor work or a short walk. I don’t know why is that. I thought it was some heart-failure.
So I searched for medical help of one cardiologist.
He did some tests on me and he found nothing was wrong. Even EKG showed nothing was wrong. So he sent me to endocrinologist who found that I have lack of thyroid hormone and diagnosis was Hypothyroidism.
He gave me some drugs but I want to understand the mechanism of the disease.

Hypothyroidism is a condition in which the body lacks sufficient thyroid hormone.
Thyroid hormone’s role is to increase body metabolism and it is reasonably that you had slow metabolism, fatigue and difficulty losing weight.
Recently it become a very common disease and every year there are more and more diagnosed with disease.
There are several causes of hypothyroidism.
The most common is a result of previous (or currently ongoing) inflammation of the thyroid gland which leaves a large percentage of the cells of the thyroid damaged.
Second is surgical removal of a portion or all of the thyroid gland after some operation or tumor.
Whatever is the cause you must understand that you’ll never had same level of your thyroid hormone like you used to, so what you need is-substational therapy.
There are several types of thyroid hormone preparations and one type of medicine will not be the best therapy for all patients. So you must try some of them and determine which is the best for you.

In a condition called hypothyroidism or underactive thyroid, the thyroid fails to produce sufficient quantities of the hormone that control metabolic activity in every cell of the body. This can be the result of the thyroid itself malfunctioning or due to the fact that it is not receiving the proper message from the brain to produce more hormones. As a result, all body systems function at a slower rate. Iodine deficiency was once the most frequent cause of hypothyroidism. There still exists a significant minority who don’t get enough or whose absorption is impaired. Nowadays, the most frequent cause of hypothyroidism is Hashimoto’s disease, an autoimmune disorder in which the body manufactures antibodies that attack thyroid tissue and suppress production of the thyroid hormone. Stress, nutritional deficiencies, inactivity, some medications, and hormonal fluctuation as a result of pregnancy and menopause also play a role to hormonal underproduction. Hypothyroidism is more common in women. Most common is estrogen dominance, where relatively higher estrogen levels suppress thyroid function. This predisposition can occur throughout a woman’s life. The effects of stress and the balance stress hormones are also important in thyroid function. Toxic metals can also interference with thyroid activity. Although h hypothyroidism can wreak havoc upon your entire body, it is easy to treat, especially if caught in its early stages. For people with more severe cases, the use of thyroid hormone replacement may be required, even require it, you should complement this regime of supplementation with dietary changes, stress-reducing activities, exercise, and general hormone balancing. A word of caution: the blood test to diagnose the disease is extremely unreliable and often fails to catch mild to moderate cases of the disorder, consider working with a more holistic doctor for preventative care. Besides the basal body temperature, it may be of more help to run a saliva or urine thyroid test.
