Hi, I am a thirty years old woman. I and my husband have been talking about having a baby. The thing is that I have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism two years ago. I am worried that the condition that I have will make the pregnancy difficult. I am also concerned if the drugs that I am taking will affect the baby's health.

Hi, I think it's great that you and your husband are talking about having a baby. Hypothyroidism isn't that serious condition if you are taking your medicines regularly. As for the hypothyroidism in pregnancy, it is very important that you continue with your therapy. If you do not do so, the affects on the baby may be fatal. The hormones produced by thyroid gland are important for growth and development. If you do not have enough of these hormones, the baby's development can be threatened. However talk to your doctor about the dosage of the drugs that you should take during the pregnancy.
