I'm a 24 year old female recently diagnosed w/ Hypothyroidism. I've been put on Synthroid. I have a 5 year old daughter who was born 2 months premature, but is very healthy now. I have since not been able to conceive after numerous attempts. I've never seen a doctor & just put it in God's hands. Now that i've learned of the condition I have & think possibly this could be why I haven't conceived will the medications i'm on make it easier or adjust my body to where it is now easier to conceive, or will I need to see a fertility specialist?
Thanks,
Courtney |

| For those of us who have thyroid conditions, both hypo and hyper, they often find that they end up pregnant quickly after starting medications. Depending upon the cause of the thyroid issue, yes it is possible. However, no matter if you are hypo or hyper, that automatically qualifies your pregnancy as "High Risk" in the eyes of most OBGYN's. There is a high risk of miscarriage when hypo or hyper thyroidism's are not under control. Also pregnancy can make that hypo or hyper go the opposite way really quick, so be extremely careful. |
