For the past year, I have been feeling a slight pain in my stomach. At the beginning the pain, on the left side of my stomach, would last couple of days, then stopped. My Doctor said it was IBS. However for the past three months, I have felt discomfort in my upper stomach, from left to right side, specially after eating. My Doctor said it could be an ulcer. I still feel discomfort, on the right side of my stomach and back. It is not a strong pain, shoul I be concerned?

Some of the symptoms you are describing sound like IBS to me. I would check out the section of this site that has info about IBS. Whether or not it is, if the pain is not going away, I would look into finding out what it is and getting treated for it.

I too was experiencing a side ache that would last for days, then disappear. Because I have had a kidney stone, the doctor ran tests that were negative.

I then just ignored the pain, until about 9 mos. later I experienced the same discomfort, but 12 hrs later the pain was increasing. The next morning doctors stated I had acute appendicitis.

I still have IBS and am trying to eleminate various foods, espicially cabonated beverages.
