Finish researchers report that using a single embryo per IVF cycle has been found to have bigger pregnancy rates than using multiple embryos. Women who used just one embryo had 54 % chances of becoming pregnant and 41.5 per cent chance of giving birth. Those who had two embryos transferred had just a 35% chance of becoming pregnant and 26.7% chance of giving birth.
Not only that it makes pregnancy more likely, but using one embryo also protects women from having multiple pregnancies. Many of the women who wish to have twins don’t know at what danger they may be, as well as the twins.
Having multiple pregnancies poses more risk to women’s health additionally increases heart’s work and blood pressure and poses risk of children’s’ unequal development and neurological disorders.
When economics are taken into consideration, the scientists report that using a single embryo procedure a few times is cheaper that having multiple embryos and having twins. This adds extra cost to prenatal care, as well as the care of children in incubators (twins are usually born prematurely) and to delivery after-care.
Countries who started using a single embryo per cycle are Finland, Sweden, Belgium and the Netherlands while the British still spend millions of pounds a year on care for difficulties and complications of multiple births. |
