Hi. I`m 24 years old and I am pregnant. I am having twins. I am really very happy, but also worried. I am diabetic, type 1. Is there anybody who could tell me more about pregnancy and diabetes?

Hi. I am pregnant and a diabetic too. To have a healthy pregnancy when you have diabetes it is important to keep you blood sugar in the target range. That means you need a treatment plan that keeps in balance all your meals, exercises, and insulin. I often have to check my blood sugar and I keep a record of my results. Type 1 diabetes means your pregnancy will affect your insulin treatment. Your need for insulin will go up during pregnancy. Don`t try to lose weight. Exercising is also important. I walk and swim a lot.
