Hi All!! I just found out I’ll have to have a hysterectomy. I admit I haven't heard a lot of positive things about it so I’m very scared! I was just fine most of my life but then, suddenly, just a week ago, blew up like a balloon... The doctor told me my uterus is about the size of a 4 month pregnancy, and that I will probably need to have a hysterectomy done. I was also told that I have fluid in the uterine cavity which isn't good. Anyway, I'm worried to death about the surgery, the after effects, the HRT following it. I'm, also scared of dramatic weight gain, aging quicker than normal, severe moodiness, bladder disfunction, loss of sexual desire and many other concerns I heard for. Is there anything that could cal me down??

Hi... thought I'd give you a quick reply and relay my experience. I think it should help you calm down as I am happy with the outcome. I had mine 2 years ago after having twins. They did a radical hyst - took everything there is to take - ovary, uterus, cervix... Then I went on HRT a week of surgery and am so glad I did. I'm Anyway, I have no signs of early aging, and I still have pap smears yearly. To be honest, I even can’t tell the difference... I feel usual.. Anyway, that's my experience... I truly hope it helped!! I know it's scary but it really isn't that bad – only small number of women experience such a bad outcome!!

Hi
I am having an hysterectomy very soon and i am very worried about going on HRT and weight gain, I am a size 10 and like to keep fit so would hate to gain a lot of wieght. I am having my womb and both ovaies removed so would love to hear from anyone that had the same operation and put my mind at ease and let me know what I have to expect. |
