I am on adderall for more than 2 months. I am having negative effects. I am female 30, and for the most part, this medicine has shown a positive result for me. However I experienced sever loss of appetite and hot flashes, increased irritability, shortened patience. Anyone else here experienced negative effects of adderall?

Well, I have similar negative effect from adderalI. I am 90 days on it, but also I am individual who has had any type of eating disorder in the past. No one told me that drug can be dangerous those who fall into old habits easily, before I took it. I was at 130 and within one month I had dropped down to 108, so I quit adderall.

I've been taking Adderall for about 11 months now. Initially I was shocked at how well things were going. I'm 20 and a senior in college looking foward to law school next year. Without it I would not have made Dean's List and done well in many aspects of my life. I began taking it in November 2007.

It wasn't until April, that I finally realized that everyone's compliments of my incredible weight loss were true. I've lost 40lbs. Initially, I started with 10mg XR, moved up to 15, then 20 and now I'm on 30mg. In the course of this year I have noticed several things:
*My heart rate stopped beating after I'd gotten used to the dosage.
*Incredible weight loss
*Heightened irritiability.
*Increased anxiety
*Sleeping sensation in hands and feet
*Really bad sweats, after just walking a half a mile, I looked as if I had run a 10 mile marathon. Sweat was masking my enitre face.
*The slightest activity caused severe loss of breath
*Heightened productivity
*An extreme loss of my personality.
Without my Adderall, I am outrageously outgoing, spontaneous, loud, witty and quick to fire neurons out my mouth without sending them through my brain. When I take it, it's almost as if I am being propelled by something. I don't laugh as much and my face is completely straight and I'm completely focused on getting whatever it is I need to get done. Some even claim I'm frowning. The outrageous taste will occur only for a short period of time and then eventually disappear.

I'm not sure if the side effects outweigh the benefits. If I look at my life and what it would be like if I discontinued my dosage, I don't think my future goals would be possible. Even on days I don't take it, I'm seen as immature and figity.

I can definitely live with the fact that I have irregular heart beats, extreme weight loss, and an extreme desire to accomplish goals. I cannot deal with the fact that I'm much more withdrawn from those I am very close to and I don't stop to smell the roses. After extensive research, I have consulted my doctor in terms of her misjudgement of such a high dosage.

My advice to you is do what I've done: research as much as humanly possible about any drug prior to your first perscription. And keep checking because luckily for me, I monitored my sympotms and researched the effects before I had the unfortunate event of meeting my maker. Please be careful and when you think you need an increase in your prescription, which undoubtedly you will (everyone develops tolerance) only start with 5mg increases to see where you fall.

Best of luck and I'm sorry this is so long but I sincerely hope it helps!!!
