I get extremely painful headaches right after I have an orgasm. Can this be prevented? It hasn't always been this way. Just recently after my partner and I had sex a few days ago, when I climaxed a throbbing pain rushed to my head. It lasted for about 3 mins then subsided. However the next day I had a headache i couldn't get rid of. Well, last night I was masterabating and when i climaxed that throbbing pain happened again, but it lasted for 20mins...I couldn't stand the pain! I took advil and this morning i have a really bad head ache. Is this seriouse? Can I fix the problem? I don't want to have sex if this is the new result? It's way too painful.

THE PROBLEM CAN BE FIXED Very Happy
For some people, sexual activity can cause a headache. This is called COITAL CEPHALGIA. Coital headache can last up to 24 hours. Headaches induced by sex may strike prior to, at the time of, or following orgasm. Some attacks have been documented after masterbation.
SUDDEN ONSET contributes to 70% of the time. These headaches begin during or right after prgasm. They are severe, usually throbbing, may build up over minutes, or may be explosive. Average duration is several hours.
SUBACUTE OR CRESCENDO. contributes to 25% of the time. The onset is much earlier than orgasm, with the intensity increasing until the time of orgasm. Frequently in the back of the head, the pain is dull and aching. Rarely cause nausea and vomiting may occue.
POSTDURAL HEADACHE. contributes to 5% of the time.
This is the least common of coital headaches. The pain occurs in the lower back of the head and is greatly increased when the person stands up. This form is most likely to be accompanied by nausea and vomiting.

Once coital headaches are properly diagnosed, medication can be taken 1 to 2 hours before anticipated sexual activity.
Your Doctor may prescribe, IMITREX, ZOMIG, PROPANOL, also common analgesics.

Sex is way to much fun for you to not want to do it anymore. Give your MD a call. I'm sure he has heard of this. A good romp in the hay is just a pill away Twisted Evil Have fun....
