I just want to know the effects i would have if I took the flu shot

I recently came across this topic also, my employer started offering free flu shots. Ive never had one but figured if its free y not. I than read through the medical release and found that if u had ever had GBS u could not take the vaccination. I told the nurse giving the shot that i had GBS in 1983 and he didnt even believe me, so i had to explain my yearlong battle and experiences to prove i knew what it was and that i had indeed been stricken with it. He than called a Dr. and was told absolutely not to give me the vaccination and that i should never even consider it again.
