I am a Crohn's Disease patient and have gone through four treatments of Remicade. I have read the warnings and now with an unexplained lump, I am growing concerned. I know lymphoma has been found more often in Remicade patients than in people in general, specifically young adults that take Azathiaprine as well. I was on Azathiaprine along with getting Reimicade infusions until a month ago when I started having side effects from it.
The other day I noticed that I have a lump in the area around where the occipital node would be on the left side of my head. Having enlarged nodes at the base of my neck quite frequently from various infections, I figured it was just that. However, it does not feel like other swollen nodes. It is hard and doesn't seem to move when the skin around it does and it is not painful (except for one evening after having a beer with dinner) I had a nurse look at it who said it was just a bump on the bone and had probably always been there or I bumped my head. I had my doctor look at it who said it was probably just a cyst. (I have had a number of cysts removed too that occur everywhere that have been "nothing"). My doctor did take blood while I was there and I am still awaiting the results.
I know it is hard to explain what a bump on the head is from without knowing much aout it. It is hard, nonmobile, not tender (except one night), no rash or irritations (although my whole scalp has itched quite abit lately) and about a half inch in diameter.
I am just freaking out probably since I noticed the indications of Remicade stating the possibilities of Lymphoma. (and i seem to have many of the symptoms) I am always tired because i battle anemia as well. But i seem to get exhauted pretty quickly lately and I wake up everynight pratically drenched.
I am just hoping someone can steer me toward some questions I need to ask my doctor when the results of my blood tests come in. Or if there is a simple and easy explanation that will help me sleep, that will be welcome too! |
