May seem like a funny topic but
man when you get this it sure isn't
funny anymore!
I am 46, but got one of these at
30 years old while doing leg lifts
at the gym. Very common for
someone who does weight lifting
to get a roid or two.
Hope everyone is feeling better.
The over the counter stuff brings
relief from pain/itch, but take care
to avoid what brought them on
in the first place or you're likely
to have a whole bunch of grapes
down there.

i dont know if a have one, because its not near my anus, its more like, right where my butt crack starts, at first i thought it was some huge zit i got somehow, because i have some weird type of sensitive skin, i get acne easily, but after maybe 2 weeks, it hasnt gotten any better, if maybe its worse, the thing pops and bleeds about once a day now, and hurts not alot, but its very annoying every day. i am very physical, almost every day at work, i work with metal and am on my feet almost all day, but when i come home, i like to game alot, so i am siting alot at home, and have worn my cushon in my chair out a bit, which may have done it.
anyone have any suggestions? i dont have any health insurance yet, because i just started a new job, and they dont offer it to new employees.

ive heard alot of healing properties in oregeno, coconut oil, and vatimin b in some instances, does anyone think any of these may help?

Hi, all. I am laughing my "bum" off over these posts...It's not that I don't sympathize with the pain and suffering of everyone here...I come from an extended famliy of 'roid sufferers, and have heard it all. My dad, sister and step-dad have all had minor surgeries to correct this problem. I have minor discomfort from an on-and-off (or "in and out") might be better(!) 'roid...I use Prep H suppositories and cream to ease the pain and itch and reduce swelling. Most of the time, an episode subsides in just a few days.

I understand that a person can have internal 'roids or external; the internal ones are more painful and serious, I think. Many external occurrences can be treated as described by some of the posters here. Lots of times, this condition can be caused by straining due to constipation/not drinking enough water; stress; not getting enough dietary fiber, pregnancy, prolonged sitting, etc.

More serious hemorrhoids can be surgically treated by "banding" or "tying off," procedures my family members have had. Not pleasant while happening, but evidently provides a lot of relief in long run.

Good luck to all. This can be a nasty and embarassing problem, I know. Bottoms up! Very Happy

Sunflash - it sounds like you may have a pilonidal cyst. (my son had one is how I even know about it...no-one ever talks about theirs as it is one of those "taboo" topics.) Check out http://www.pilonidal.org/ for a lot of info!

While I see it's been a while since your post, if someone else reads this - go to the doc ASAP so it can be "nipped in the butt" before it gets out of hand. Son never said anything to me about it until it required some very difficult surgery - he was 15. Then due to an idiot surgeon he had to have another which resulted in me packing a huge wound from the second surgery for over 9 months. Great for a 16 year old son to have to have his mom pack a wound on his bum three times a day.

only thing i can think of is that when i was puking my stomach up from being way too drunk the other night i must have strained!

what a bugger! it hurts all the time, but like the guy up said, pushing it back in is like a slice of heavenly relief, but not for long Sad

Man for only the second time in my life im suffering from one of these. Makes the first one look good. Not sure what brought it on though. From all Ive seen on the net and from a Dr. visit 30 years ago the things to do are , Take metemucil three times a day, a stool softner wouldnt hurt either. Take hot sitz baths about three times a day, add some baking soda to the water, while soaking use gentile pressure to push it back in. It will come back out again but begins to stay in longer as you continue. You can put an ice pack on it to help reduce swelling. Some herbs are suppozed to be good for strengthening vein walls,(bilbery, grape extract, and some others). Avoid prolonged sitting or standing. Sneezing and coughing will aggravate it. And PRAY, damn this hurts, Good luck to all. Oh and see a Doc I guess if no improvement within a week or so. They ususally get better on there own.

I got one too, i felt pressure in my rectum and thought it was a crap, then i went to poo it out and nothing came out, then i stuck my finger up the "you know what" and it was very unnatural. I already have a testicular cyst and now this? I hope they both leave if i start being healthier.

Sorry to tell you weightlifting guys but these Hemorrhoids dont go away - they can be treated or get worse - your bum won't ever go back to "normal." You will have good days and bad days and you can avoid certain things that make them worse. I am a 48 year old woman who got my freinds after my second child was born in 1984, I also smoked for many years - this sitting and straining on the toilet was a big contributing factor. I has banding done )internal ones) in 1994 and 2006 - finally had to have surgery this year for the external, which is what we are talking about. I am begining my 2nd week of recovery after my Hoemmorhoidectomy (day 15 actually) - getting through it with Vicodin and sitz baths. It is brutal. Good Luck...

I just found out what hemroids are yesterday and I think I have had one for 7 years. I was too embarrassed to go to the doctor and since it never like REALLY hurt I didnt feel the need too- it was just uncomfortable. I can't believe I have lived with fear over this (thought for sure it would end up being cancer) for so long- I'm finally going to the doctor.
