Impact of Tourette syndrome on nervous system?

Hello, guys. My kid has been diagnosed Tourette syndrome recently and I am little worried. I am sure he will have problems with kids of his age. The thing that interests me more is whether this syndrome has an impact on nervous system. What do you know about this? I will appreciate your replies.

Hello. Tourette syndrome can be unpleasant for kids. The symptoms are usually the worst for the age between 7 and 14. After that period, symptoms are usually reduced. Some tics even go away. This is not progressive disease. As far as I know, it doesn’t have an impact on nervous system. Morphological changes on the brain have not been found by MRI. However, there are some changes in metabolism in the brain. Emotional impact is huge, so I suggest your kid to start with behavior therapy.
