Hi there.
On the 5th of May I got an implanon inserted. It's getting close to when I would normally have my period (yes, I know implanon messes with period timing :p) and I've started having this weird, brown vaginal disharge. It's not watery, but it's not clumpy or chunky and it stains. It smells kind of like blood.
I was just wondering if it was normal, and if so, how long should I expect it for? It's kind of inconvenient. Is it a replacement for my period, or is it my period being weird. Sorry for my teenage grammar. It's late at night.
Implanon like any other hormonal treatment messes up not only with the timing of your periods but with the symptoms as well. Considering you just had it inserted I wouldn’t be surprised if it is the cause of the spotting and the discharge.
I used only bc pills and they were no fun at the beginning. You can never say if the discharge was your period or just bleeding outbreak. You have to wait for at least a month and possible more for things to come to their place, for your body to get used to the hormone and then you will see how things go.
If the bleedings become way to heavy or weird, you should consult your doc then.
