In which cases will diuretics mess up your electrolytes?

My grandfather has heart problems, which was established three years ago. He has high blood pressure and angina pectoris. He was prescribed with some meds, including beta blockers, diuretics (for eliminating excessive fluids form the organism). In which cases will diuretics mess up your electrolytes? Do you know? I am just concerned for him...

It is a very common therapy for people that suffer from angina pectoris. Beside beta blockers and diuretics, usually calcium antagonists are given too. Diuretics are used for eliminating fluids because heart is too weak for that. Kalium has to be taken with diuretics because its level decreases with the use of diuretics.
