When I did the liver function test, the level of the liver enzymes, especially of AST and ALT were significantly increased. Which is the normal quantity of these enzymes and what is their increasing implicating? Is my liver in danger?

Hello! I had similar troubles with ALT and GGT. I think that the normal range of values for AST is from 5 to 40 units per liter of serum; the one of ALT is 7 to 56. I had a very elevated level of ALT and I believed that my liver was damaged. But, in fact, I had acute viral hepatitis A, which left no residual effects on liver when I recovered. So, it means that these disorders may have nothing to do with your liver. Anyway, the correct interpretation of the increasing of ALT and AST levels depends on the complete clinical picture.
