Hi, my father is 56 years old and he is not feeling well in last few weeks. He decided to visit his doctor and to ask for help several days ago. Doctor orders him to make blood analysis and he noticed that LFTs were increased. He told my father to take rest for few days and that to repeat liver function test. I would like to know something more about LFTs.

Hi, liver function tests is consisted from several enzymes which liver produces and according to their level doctor may conclude if something is wrong with liver or maybe some other organ. This test follows aminotransferases which may be high when there is damage on the liver cells. On the other side test may follow alkaline phosphatase the other enzyme which rises if there is obstruction in the liver’s channels system. This test may show us if there is inflammation, drug abuse, some blood problem or other disorder.
