Hi, guys. I was on my routine check up with my doctor. I haven’t felt any symptom. However, my blood tests showed something interesting. I had increased rheumatoid factor. I wonder if I should expect RA. What does my result mean anyway? I would appreciate all your replies. Bye and thanks!

Hello. Increased rheumatoid factor does not always mean rheumatoid arthritis. Mostly, this is increased in people with RA. However, people with Sjogren’s syndrome have it increased as well. Sometimes there are false positive results. We can blame other autoimmune diseases. Those are: chronic hepatitis, dermatomyositis, scleroderma, lupus, leukemia, etc. You should check your result again after some period. I hope this helps. Good luck! Bye!
