Increasing Pain

I am 9 days post tonsillectomy and I think this is one of the work things I have ever had to deal with and I have had 13 orthopedic surgeries since 2001 from having my legs crushed in a car accident. I am to the point where I don't know what to do because the pain has not gotten any better. In fact in the past few days the white stuff that was in my throat (the scabs I assume) has gone away and I think the pain is worse!!! Before I was able to eat halfway solid foods like mac & cheese and now
I'm back to liquids only!! Is this increase in pain from the scabs falling off? If so how long does it take to start feeling better. I am still taking Lortab elixir every 4 hours and am in pain 3 hours after I take it. Has anyone tried ibuprofen or aleve? If so which one seems to work the best?
