Hi, my sister had a pilonidal cyst on her spine that became infected. Now it is an even more serious condition, called pilonidal abscess. A doctor told us a little about it, but we have to know more. Is there anyone else with abscess on spine caused by infection?

Hello, I had abscess on spine too. The cyst on my spine was infected and filled with pus. That pus was containing fluid, destroyed tissue cells and white blood cells. It looked like a large pimple at the bottom of the tailbone. It was painful and swollen, and all that area was reddish. I also had fever and felt numbness in infected area all the time. This abscess on spine couldn’t be cured by antibiotics, unlike the other infections. A doctor had to do an urgent surgical decompression, so he cut through the bones of the spine, opened it and drained. I heard that in some cases, the abscess drained on its own.
