My son is a 10 year old and have had an inflammatory lenear verrucous epidermal nevus. I must say he has a normal birth history - there is no medical history in the past including viral infection. He have verrucous hyperpigmented skin lesion linearly distributed over the lower trunk. The lesion is flat and of light brown color. During the time, he developed a right sided hemiplegia with aphasia, which recovered in a month. Anybody with more info about ILVEN?

A linear, persistent plaque, inflammatory verrucous epidermal nevus is usually first noted on a limb in early childhood. ILVEN accounts for approximately 5% of patients with EN. Inflammatory Linear Verrucous Epidermal Nevus syndrome is a neurocuta-neous disorder. It is characterized by skin lesions, like those you`ve described, and a myriad of visceral manifestations, which represents a dysembry-ogenesis with ectodermal and mesodermal malformations occurring in a regional pattern. Also, this reflects an abnormality in the normal process of induction.
