My friend has just been told her blood tests show an inflamed liver and low protein levels. What could have caused this?
She is obese- weighing 20 stone- could this be the problem?

It could be caused by numerous things. One thing could be medications. Some are very hard on the liver. Due to constant pain I take medication with actephetmen (sp?) (Tylenol).
Though I have my liver functions checked and they are okay my mother talked me into taking Milk Thistle, an herb, to cleanse my liver. I just started taking it today. I'm going to take it for a month.
I'm really not into herbs but I thought I'd give this one a try.
My father has severe coronary artery disease, takes alot of meds including Zocor (for high cholesterol). He periodically takes Milk Thistle for a cleanse becasue he thinks it helps him. Zocor, as all cholesterol meds, is hard on your liver. I guess you don't even know you are taking it...meaning there aren't any side effects.
Might be something your friend may want to try.
