The following are symptoms of something I had. I would like to know what it was and how to prevent it from recurring

1. 50 or more painful sores in mouth and on throat, not ulcers or cankersores.
2. Swollen taste buds and blisters on the tongue
3. Swollen and red gums, but not bleeding
4. Swollen lymph gland under chin
5. Swollen salivary glands
6. Low grade fever
7. No appetite (couldn't eat because of the pain even if I had wanted
8. Lasted 14 days

Hi! Are you sure these are not canker sores? Have you seen a doc?

I was having nearly the same symptoms, and my doc said these were canker sores.
I also could feel the nodes, I developed fever and was kind of depressed and lethargic.

Did your sores go away on their own or did you apply anything?

Mine were gone in like 10 days.
